Ice is built on concepts which will be familiar to CORBA programmers, and supports a wide variety of programming languages and runtime platforms.
This metapackage contains dependencies for all Ice related packages. You will find further information in the ZeroC home page (http://www.zeroc.com/ice.html) and in the non-free package zeroc-ice-manual.
This archive contains the Ice source code for the C++, Java, .NET, Python, Ruby and PHP language mappings. Please refer to the README and INSTALL files in the appropriate subdirectory for specific information on each language mapping.
Please, note that ZeroC does not currently support the whole range of architectures supported by Debian. The Debian release contains a small patch using <limits.h> and <endian.h> as the source of word length and byte order. In order to keep this release as compatible with upstream as possible I did not enable my checks for user code by default. You should define HAVE_LIMITS_H and HAVE_ENDIAN_H more»

The previous approach was meant to provide backwards compatibility but the current implementation of Slice compilers is broken for symlinks. more»
