The KDE Plasma workspace for netbook computers
Provides the environment for running and managing applications and integrating
interaction of applications. It is designed as generic environment for all
kinds of applications in a netbook environment, not only applications built on
the KDE Platform. It integrates best with applications following the standards
used by the KDE Platform.
This package is part of the KDE base workspace module.
KDE Workspace consisting of what is the desktop. The applications and libraries included aren't required to be portable and probably will only work with X11. On other desktops such as OS X and Windows, users wouldn't run these applications, but use the native ones instead. The typical application shouldn't have dependencies in workspace unless they are a component such as a screen-saver or pane
Working around the dark taskbar bug (#564941) in KDE SC 4.4
If your taskbar sometimes turns black, dark or loses transparency, you've
probably been hit by #564941. The bug usually occurs with default Plasma theme
(known as "Air") when compositing (also known as "Desktop Effects") is off or
when it is suspended with e.g. Ctrl+Shift+F12. T
