GConf is a configuration database system, functionally similar to the
Windows registry but lots better. :-) It's being written for the GNOME
desktop but does not require GNOME; configure should notice if GNOME
is not installed and compile the basic GConf library anyway.
GConf does require glib and ORBit. It has optional ldap and xml backends
that require openldap and libxml respectively.
GConf 2 for Debian
The default GConf sources accessed by the GConf daemon are the
following, in order:
Mandatory settings set by the administrator. You can edit them with
gconf-editor, as root, to override any user settings.
This directory contains mandatory settings provided by Debian, CDD or
- Make the defaults mechanism find the right polkit action (Matthias Clasen)
- Remove (worse than) useless signal handlers for SEGV, FPE, etc. in gconfd
- Avoid a crash when gconftool-2 can't read the db (Matthias Clasen)
