an IRC proxy for multiple users
shroudBNC (short: sbnc) is an modular IRC proxy for multiple
users. Its main features are SSL support for both IRC and client
connections, client certificates with passwordless authentication,
IPv6 support, asynchronous dns resolving, built-in flood protection
and module support.
shroudBNC comes with many useful Tcl scripts, but you are able to
write your own, too.
README.Debian for the Debian sbnc package
I debianized the source code of sbnc, so that it will be used
as a systemwide IRC proxy daemon.
You can find now all your datas in the following directories:
- /etc/init.d - init.d script of sbnc
- /etc/sbnc - .tcl, .ssl and .ipc configuration files
- /usr/lib/sbnc - modules and script extensions of sbnc
shroudBNC setting: "user.lean"
If you're going to use an sBNC instance for a lot of users (>500) you might
want to consider using "lean" mode in order to improve performance.
When enabled the parser does not parse/process certain messages which are
received from an IRC server. Several modes are defined:
0 - default mode, every line is processed as usual
1 - chanus
If you create a file called "sbnc.motd" in your bouncer's directory this
file will be presented to users of your bouncer whenever they connect to it.
shroudBNC uses the same irc replies (372 and 376) for this like the ircd
