GD Graphics Library (old version, without XPM support)

GD is a graphics library. It allows your code to quickly draw images complete with lines, arcs, text, multiple colours, cut and paste from other images, flood fills, and write out the result as a PNG file. This is particularly useful in World Wide Web applications, where PNG is one of the formats accepted for inline images by most browsers.

This is the runtime package of the library built without XPM support.

The use of this package is discouraged, as it is no longer maintained upstream. Please use GD 2.x packages instead if at all possible.

Package version:1.8.4.debian-1

Packages based on GD 1.x

The use of these packages is discouraged, as they are no longer
maintained upstream. Please use packages based on GD 2.x instead, and
file bugreports against packages build-depending on either of the
packages libgd-dev, libgd-xpm-dev or libgd-noxpm-dev.

A graphics library for fast image creation

_HEY! READ THIS!_ gd 1.8.4 creates PNG, JPEG and WBMP images, not
GIF images. This is a good thing. PNG is a more compact format, and
full compression is available. JPEG works well with photographic

libgd (1.8.4.debian-1) unstable; urgency=low

  * Use non-pristine source: Strip compiled code from source tarball.
  * Acknowledge NMU. Closes: bug#280134, #283844 (thanks to Martin Pitt
<>, Frank Lichtenheld <> and Steve
    Kemp <>).
  * Repackage using cdbs:
+ Build-depend on cdbs and tighten debhelper build-dependency.
    + Use debhelper.

This is GD 1.x packaged for Debian GNU systems.
