event-based init daemon
upstart is a replacement for the /sbin/init daemon which handles
starting of tasks and services during boot, stopping them during
shutdown and supervising them while the system is running.
Upstart is a replacement for the traditional sysvinit package, and
runs as process #1. While it is eventually intended to be used to
create a completely event-driven boot process, we are currently
only using it to emulate the original sysvinit behaviour.
This gives us the maximum amount of testing of the code and concepts
behind it, while retaining the ability to fallback to sys

On startup, the Upstart init(8) daemon reads its job configu‐
ration from the /etc/init directory, and watches for future
changes using inotify(7).
Files in this directory must end in .conf and
