minicom normally needs to be setuid root so normal users can access the
devices. In Debian, minicom is not setuid root and users need to be added
to the `dialout' group to be able to access serial devices.

compatible PC's, can display special line drawing characters.
If these characters map 1-to-1 to the IBM character set, you can just
use the '-l' (literal) flag when invoking minicom. If your

the 'as', 'ae' and 'ac' entries to your termcap.
