Virtual tunnel over TCP/IP networks
VTun provides a method for creating Virtual Tunnels over TCP/IP networks
and allows one to shape, compress, and encrypt traffic in those tunnels.
Supported types of tunnels are: PPP, IP, Ethernet and most other serial
protocols and programs.
VTun is easily and highly configurable: it can be used for various
network tasks like VPN, Mobile IP, Shaped Internet access, IP address
saving, etc. It is completely a user space implementation and does not
require modification to any kernel parts.

Compilation and Installation:
In order to compile VTun you need several software packages.
The dual-license on OpenSSL clashes with the more restrictive GPL
licensing on LZO. In most cases, an exemption on the GPL-licensed
product is ultimately required to ensure no barrier exists to using it
with a project licensed under a less restrictive license, legally
Markus Oberhumer granted an exemption to VTun with respect to clashing
licenses and OpenSSL on 5 May 2003, with the fo

This will give you reliable and the fastest possible Point-to-Point
tunnel. Use this tunnel type whenever it's possible, especially
if performance and efficiency is concerned. If you need compression,
