scponly - Restricts the commands available to scp- and sftp-users…  more info»

scponly for Debian

scponly can be operated in 'standard' or chrooted mode.
The standard scponly binary is located in /usr/bin/scponly.
The chrooted scponly binary is located in /usr/sbin/scponlyc.

If you want to use the chrooted version of scponly ("scponlyc"),
you have to create a chroot-jail for the user first; This package
comes with a script that simplifies the creation of such a user.
You can find it in /usr/share/doc/scponly/setup_chroot.
Then, run 'dpkg-reconfigure scponly', this will set the SUID bit
on /usr/sbin/scponlyc and inform you about the consequences.

If clients complain about missing groups, compile
/usr/share/doc/scponly/groups.c and copy the resulting binary
into /bin/groups in the chroot jail. This should satifsy picky
scp and sftp clients.

Notes on rsync, unison and SVN support: this has been disabled
in this package for security reasons. If you absolutely want it,
install the package "scponly-full" and read the SECURITY file
contained therein.
