.SH DESCRIPTION
.LP
.B yutex
is the collective name of the programs:
.B myutex
(Motif)
.B qyutex
(Qt) and
.B kyutex
(KDE).
All editors look the same and they all perform similar functions.
They are all unicode text editors. A system configuration file gets copied
from
/usr/share/yutex/data into
.B "$(HOME).yutexrc"
when user start up yutex for the first time.
.sp
The configuration file can be edited inside yutex. For
the detailed description of usage and configuration take a look at the
on-line manual. If you can not invoke yutex now, the manual pages can
be viewed with a text editor in the directory
/usr/share/yutex/help
.sp
If you are planning to save files with yutex please note that the
format preferred by edit for unicode files is UTF8.
.sp
yutex can convert between different encodings, but if you do not need a
GUI consider
.B uconvert.
.LP
.SH ARGUMENTS
.TP
.BI "toolkit-options "
are the standard X Toolkit options. They do not have any effect on the edit
area - that is controlled from
.B ".yutexrc."
The Motif version of
.B yutex
also supports resource files. If you need some sample, you can take
a look at
/usr/share/config/app-defaults/MYutex
- this is the file it loads by default.
If you want to modify these defaults, take a look at Xt Manual pages,
covering the usage of resource files.
Take a look at the environment variables:
.B XFILESEARCHPATH
and
.B XENVIRONMENT
if you want to relocate your config file.
.TP
.BI "-install "
forces yutex to use private colormap on a pseudo color display. This
works only in Motif version. In all versions, yutex tries to
allocate the closest color it can. It never leaves the screen unreadable
because of lack of colors.
.TP
.BI "file-name "
is the file yutex should read into its buffer at start-up.
.SH ENCODING
The encoding determines how yutex interacts with character streams:
file input, file output, cut and paste. XInput encoding is set up
to use an independent, fixed encoder.
.sp
If you received yutex through the yutex distribution, the following
encodings are inclusively supported:
.sp
UTF8, UTF7, 8859_1, 8859_2, 8859_5, 8859_7, 8859_9, KOI8_R,
JIS, SJIS, EUC_JP, KSC5601, EUC_KR, GB2312_7, GB2312_8, HZ, BIG5,
CTEXT_JA.
.sp
For a detailed description of these please refer to
.B uniconv
man page.
.SH ENVIRONMENT
The environment variable
.B HOME
should point to the user's home directory, where the
.B .yutexrc
configuration file is kept. If this file is missing yutex tries to recreate it
from the system configuration file. If the file is corrupt yutex exits with
an error dialog. Errors messages are usually replicated in the standard
error ouput of the
.B yutex.
